Family Learning Day

This event was organised by Surrey Community Learning (SCC) and took place at the CornerHouse. Planned for Asian families living in the Maybury area, the aim of this activity was to bring the community together, and engage both mothers and their children in an enjoyable learning experience.

A large number of families attended, including over 50 children, and they all participated in several learning activities.

Initially the mothers and their children shared the experience and participated in storytelling and predicting what will happen next in the story.Both mothers and children also enjoyed the experience of henna painting.

The children were engaged and participated enthusiastically in other organized art and craft activities, such as painting the fish templates with various colours using felt tip pens.

They also enjoyed decorating gingerbread men biscuits with icing and then tasting them. Play-dough was provided to engage the younger children.
