CornerHouse are Community Matters Champions
The Woking News and Mail and Procter and Gamble
(P&G) recently gave away £10,000 to 18 community
groups in the Woking area.
After receiving the nominations from News and
Mail readers earlier this year, it was left to
the public to decide who would take away a share
of the money. Supporters of shortlisted groups
and organisations had been frantically voting
during the previous few weeks and in total
almost 900 votes were cast.
The first prize of £3,000 went to CornerHouse
and will be used to help fund depression support
worker Judith Sergeant, who has since started in
her role.
Michael Mallinson, Chair of CornerHouse said:
“Naturally, we are delighted to have won and we
are particularly pleased that a mental health
group has got support because it is not always a
very popular area of work.”
